RME proudly presents our flagship community investment partner, STARS Air Ambulance, with a $50,000 donation towards Mission Operations on February 4, 2020 at the Calgary air base. Nearly half of this donation was raised directly by RME employees who believe in the critical work performed by the skilled STARS crew members.

RME employees worked incredibly hard throughout 2019 to show they care about the health and safety of residents in the communities in which they live, work and play. After the inaugural year of raising funds for STARS by donations directly out of their own pockets, we are proud to say that RME employees alone raised nearly $18,000 throughout 2019. As a flagship community investment partner, RME committed to match this amount and top it off to ensure that a full $50,000 would go directly towards STARS Air Ambulance, which provides life-saving air medical service to rural communities across Western Canada. As dependability is a cornerstone to how RME operates, we wanted our dollars designated to support STARS Mission Operations.

Mission Operations helps maintain the fleet of medically outfitted helicopters, allows air medical crews to receive cutting-edge training, and ensures STARS pilots and engineers are operating at the top of their field. Additionally, this support goes towards the RME proudly presents our flagship community investment partner, STARS Air Ambulance, with a $50,000 donation towards Mission Operations on February 4, 2020 at the Calgary air base. Emergency Link Centre responsible for coordinating the hundreds of emergency calls received each week. “STARS responded to more than 2,700 missions last year across Western Canada. Support from partners like Rocky Mountain Equipment and their employees is the reason why STARS is able to stand at the ready 24/7 to help patients in need,” said Wendy Beauchesne, Executive Vice President, STARS Foundation. A formal cheque presentation was held on February 4, 2020 at the STARS Air Base in Calgary with Jim Wood, Chief Sales and Operations Officer, who is surrounded by an inspiring crew of pilots, doctors, nurses and executive team.

RME’s donation will ensure each patient receives critical care in-flight and is transported to the hospital in the most efficient and safest way possible. “We are thankful for all our staff who generously supported this important cause throughout the year. Almost all of us are linked to someone who has relied on STARS at one time or another—they fill an important need for medical care coverage across RME’s network,” said Jim Wood, Chief Sales and Operations Officer.

TOP FUNDRAISER PICTURE BUTTE

As part of the year-long employee fundraising initiative for STARS Air Ambulance, RME challenged its employees to a friendly competition to see which branch could raise the most money throughout 2019. Small, but mighty, RME’s Picture Butte branch consisting of only 16 employees raised 3.5 times more than the average employee donation across the network in 2019. A special presentation was held at the Picture Butte branch on March 2, 2020 recognizing the individual generosity of the team and STARS took time to show them the ultra hightech instrumentation and tools inside the STARS Mobile Unit.

“Beyond critical operating funding, these donations are also incredibly motivating to the STARS crew to keep pushing for excellence and innovation so we can provide the best possible care and transport to those who are critically ill and injured,” said Wendy Beauchesne.
