Markert Construction Limited, Rocky View County, AB

It all began in 1991 when Norman and son Wayne Markert started up a small construction business in Balzac, AB, that has since grown into a six man, 20-unit operation. Now run by third generation owner Devon, Markert Construction Limited has grown slowly and steadily to accommodate the residential and commercial demands that arise throughout the year.

“We do full-service earth work; commercial, residential, acreage development, roads, septic systems and designs, you name it!” said Devon. “We also do excavation, trench services for water lines, gas lines, and power lines, demolition work, equestrian riding arenas both indoors and outdoors.”

Since 2015, Markert Construction Ltd. has shifted from continually digging basements and taking on demolition jobs to working on rural projects like septic systems, roads, and different styles of landscaping such as rock walls and hardscaping jobs.

Included in their fleet to ensure the job gets done is a CASE CX160C excavator, a CASE CX80C midi excavator, two CASE TR270 track loaders, and a CASE 621B loader. They have also been a loyal customer since RME was in its Hammer Equipment days.

“It’s just the track record, we’ve had lots of CASE equipment and they’ve always been good to us,” said Devon.

Despite moving out of Balzac and into the Bearspaw area, Devon still enjoys working with CE Equipment Sales Consultant Thomas McCarthy and occasionally CE Sales Manager Brad Burgess when he’s in need of equipment or parts.

“We were introduced to Brad when he was a salesman almost seven years ago. From there, we met Thomas and we’ve been dealing with him for about the past four years now,” said Devon. “He’s actually great, he’s more than a salesman. After he sells us a machine, he’ll still come out and if there’s a problem, he will personally pick up and deliver any required parts as he’s driving around.”

Looking ahead, Devon plans on growing the company a little bit every year while continuing to provide prompt service to their customers. By doing Right By Markert Construction Ltd., RME helps ensure their company is properly equipped and ready to tackle every job.
