The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth has had its share of ups and downs over the years as it evolved into what we know it to be today. From 1886 when the Calgary and District Agricultural Society held its first fair, to 1912 when American promoter Guy Weadick organized the Frontier Days Celebration and Championship, which later became known as the Stampede. In 1968 the Stampede saw the birth of the Grandstand show, the first Aggie Days then took place in 1985, the 100-year lease agreement was signed in 2007, the historical flood that struck Calgary in 2013, and then having to close its doors for the first time in 100 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Through all the events and occurrences over the years the celebration in July continues to grab the attention of millions around the world each year.

2022 will bring in another momentous change, not just for the Calgary Stampede, but for RME, as well. For the first time in 40 years, the Calgary Stampede will be replacing the John Deere green for Case IH red as RME becomes the official equipment sponsor of the Calgary Stampede.

RME’s CSOO Jim Wood says the company could not be happier to be a part of such an important western heritage annual event in Canada.

“It is an honorable event to hang your hat on. If you listen to how RME’s messaging aligns with that of the Calgary Stampede, they share the same rural beliefs and values that we do. They are very agriculture-based, and that resonates with us.”

So, what does such a sponsorship mean for RME? Brand recognition, international exposure, and education.

“We will have two 620 Quadtracs, six Maxxums, and six Farmalls on the grounds. One Quadtrac will be pulling the Grandstand, the Maxxums will be grooming the track, while the Farmalls will be grooming the infield along with odd jobs such as pulling out the fireworks, pulling trailers, etc.,” said Jim. “It is great exposure for RME and the Case IH brand, not only on the Stampede grounds but throughout North America during each broadcast of the afternoon rodeo and evening chuckwagon races.”

In April this year during the Calgary Stampede’s annual Aggie Days, RME and Case IH equipment were also present on the grounds.  The event provided thousands of school-aged children the opportunity to learn about agriculture and the various equipment that farmers depend on for a successful planting, growing, and harvesting season.

RME and our Case IH equipment will be working side-by-side for the 10-days of the Calgary Stampede, which means visitors will find the Case IH logo alongside RME’s shield. However, RME’s sponsorship extends beyond the celebration in July, demonstrating RME’s lasting commitment to the preservation and support of agriculture and its values.

“For us at RME its about our commitment of equipment, delivery, optimization, and spending the time with the employees of the Stampede to ensure the transition is flawless,” said Jim. “But, it’s not just about the financial investment, it’s not just about equipment, it’s how we can support the event through our sponsorship. Our ownership group is very invested and thrilled about being involved with the Calgary Stampede. Specifically, what it means to be a part of the tradition and experience within the community, as opposed to just going through the motions as previous sponsors have.”

RME is thrilled to have the opportunity to do  by providing the support, the equipment, the time, and the commitment they need for a successful year.
