Located only 40 minutes West of the Alberta/Saskatchewan border, RME Vermilion has been serving farmers and ranchers in the area for over 10 years. In order to ensure our customers receive the sales, parts and service support for their operation, top-notch employees are needed on the frontlines to make certain everything is being taken care of.

One of those employees is Service Writer Deborah Thompson who has been with RME for the past 13 years. Originally working at Lakeland Implements before it was acquired by RME, Deborah applied for the available office admin job and has been there ever since.

“I wasn’t sure if it was the right job for me since I didn’t grow up on a farm and knew nothing about farming/agriculture,” she said. “But I’ve been here ever since, and I have learned a lot.”

Deborah says her favorite part of the job is the paperwork that comes with it – no joke – and she enjoys working with her team at the branch.

“Everyone is happy to help each other out when needed, which I think is very important.”

The day to day for Deborah involves opening, reviewing, and closing work orders, assisting customers, gathering invoices, and ensuring customers’ units are still running well after it leaves the shop.

“My favorite part of working in the agriculture industry is rooting for the customers for a happy, healthy season. I’m always willing to help in any way I can to ensure that happens.”

According to coworker and Journeyman Parts Technician Jamie Grant, Deborah is a great person to have on the team. She’s been with RME so long, she even met her husband Luke through RME and the two of them now have two kids together!

Looking ahead, Deborah has no plans on leaving RME as she loves going to work every day, interacting with the customers, and working with the rest of the team at RME Vermilion.

RME is proud to have people like Deborah working directly with our customers to ensure they have everything they need while their equipment is being serviced and even follows up with them after their units leave. By doing , she helps set them up for a successful growing season and shows our customers how much RME cares.
