Kidney March 2019

For the second year in a row, RME participated and sponsored the Kidney March, the only event of its kind in the world. Participants
signed up to walk 100 kms through some of Alberta’s most scenic areas from Kananaskis to Calgary in early September, all while fundraising for the cause. Marchers took part in the unique event because they are personally impacted by kidney disease, have lost a loved one, or simply want to do something meaningful to make a difference.

RME has been a major sponsor for two years —providing a quick pit stop with refreshments and supplying lunch for 500 people for one day of the event. Not only did RME sponsor the Kidney March, President and CEO, Garrett Ganden, participated for a second year, only this time, he brought an entire team of marchers, volunteers and crew members to join him on RME Kidney Krusaders.

The Kidney Krusaders team worked hard to train, fundraise more than $8,300, as well as spread the message about why they are supporting the Kidney Foundation. Each team member was inspired to help make a difference knowing that kidney disease is irreversible, and each year kills thousands of Canadians.

2019 saw a record-setting number of Marchers and raised the most amount of money in a single year with $1.4 million supporting
prevention, lifesaving research, patient programs, Kidney Kids Camp, and organ donation programs. RME is pleased to be so deeply engaged with this cause, as it directly impacts an alarming number of Canadians.
